The QOPHI Lab has a state-of-the art infrastructure for characterization and experimental testing of passive and active optical components, photonic integrated circuits and electro-optical devices. Due to these facilities, experimental implementation and testing of different photonic applications can be carried out.
Discrete setups for classical/quantum communication and sensing
- Fiber optic characterization (attenuation, chromatic dispersion)
- Characterization of passive and active optical devices (optical modulators, optical amplifiers, LEDs, lasers, filters…)
- Verification of optical networks and fibre links
- Performing of fusion splicing for different types of optical fibres
- Testing of optical fibre links and electrical systems in terms of Bit Error Ratio up to 10 Gbps
- Testing of QKD setups with ultra low noise measurement systems
- Characterization of optical sensors
Integrated photonics for classical/quantum communication and sensing
- Design and simulation of photonic components and integrated photonic circuits. Layout generation. Testing and validation
- Feasibility studies, reports and state-of-the-art analysis in different integrated photonics platforms: InP, Si, SiN. Advice on different integrated photonics platforms
- We can design a photonic integrated circuit (PIC) that implements customers´required functionalities on the target platform. In order to design a feasible circuit, we first simulate in the optical and RF domains, both at the component and circuit level, optimizing the design to achieve the required figures of merit and design specifications of the functionality. Once the design is done, we produce the layout to be sent to a MPW or pure-play foundry
- We provide advice on packaging and encapsulation, leading the customer to the most adequate packaging company based on the required specifications
- We test and characterize the PIC and produce the final report
- We follow industry standard design techniques for manufacturability, testability and packaging
- Customer intellectual property will always be confidential and secured
- High performance computing (HPC) server
Our state-of-the-art equipment allow us to carry out experimental implementation and testing of different photonic applications
