Optical Communications & Quantum, Sensing

Research Areas

The QOPHI Lab has a state-of-the art infrastructure for characterization and experimental testing of passive and active optical components, photonic integrated circuits and electro-optical devices. Due to these facilities, experimental implementation and testing of different photonic applications can be carried out.

Research Projects

The QOPHI Lab’s mission is to produce high-quality scientific knowledge in the field of classical and quantum communication, photonics and integrated photonics, through research projects, R&D contracts and collaboration agreements with the private sector.

Our research activity focuses on several applications of photonics, mainly in optical communications classical and QKD, in fiber optics and free space optics, as well as on sensing mechanisms.

Among others, the QOPHI Lab currently coordinates three European MSCA DN Projects awarded under the H2020 and Horizon Europe grants schemes.
